Loudoun County, Virginia- May 3, 2022: Parent advocacy groups, Army of Parents and the Loudoun County chapter of Moms for Liberty, have joined forces to ensure that all voters in Virginia’s 10th District have the opportunity to hear candidates’ views on issues important to all Americans at the inaugural “American Matters: The Series” event on Tuesday, May 3, at 6pm at 43800 Olympic Boulevard, Leesburg, VA.
“American Matters: The Series”, a voter information event that sold out 250 tickets in a matter of days, will feature five of the 11 candidates running for U.S. Congress in Virginia’s 10th GOP District: John Henley, Brandon Michon, Jeanine Lawson, Hung Cao and Mike Clancy –and will be hosted by WMAL morning show host, Larry O’Connor, with special guest, Daily Wire journalist and author of Race to the Bottom, Luke Rosiak.
O’Connor will lead the candidates in comprehensive conversations on matters important to Americans: Energy, Economy, Federal Government, Foreign Policy and Immigration.
Army of Parents and Moms for Liberty are committed to ensuring that the voter complacency and mistakes of the past are not repeated by educating voters and empowering them to vote with knowledge and purpose. “Never again should we vote for a candidate without knowing who they are and what they stand for. As parents, grandparents and citizens, we must all take responsibility for who we put in the seats that represent ‘We the People’ and who will create the future of America for all of our children,” said Elicia Brand, Co-Founder and President/CEO of Army of Parents and event organizer.
Erin Roselle Poe, Army of Parents Co-Founder, Vice President and one of the organizers of the event said, “If we learned anything over the past two years with our local representatives on the School Board and Board of Supervisors is that elections matter. We have created this event in order to help voters know the big issues we face in our country, who these candidates are, how they think and how they plan to make our country better on a federal level.”
Loudoun County a large part of Virginia’s 10th District, has been rife with self-induced problems. The School Board and Superintendent Scott Ziegler have been the subject of months-long international media coverage ranging from plotting against parents within private Facebook groups, violating the First Amendment rights of teachers, ending Public Comment in Board meetings, engaging in a campaign to “silence the opposition”, introducing sexually explicit reading material to children, lowering standards of education, infusing identity politics into the classroom and covering up sexual assaults.
“Loudoun County parents’ determination and commitment to their children and their well-being was the driver in winning the Office of the Governor for Glenn Youngkin and Winsome Sears, as well as the Office of the Attorney General for Jason Miyares. We are determined to do it again in November’s General Election for U.S. Congress, but we need the passion and commitment of all of the voters in VA District 10 in order to make real change,” said Cheryl Onderchain, founder of the Loudoun County chapter of Moms for Liberty and another event organizer.
“There are 11 great candidates running for the GOP 10th District seat. The large number of candidates for this race shows that people want change and will step out from behind their keyboards and into the fight. Our plan was to have two events, back-to-back, in order to feature all of these strong candidates, but due to candidates’ scheduling conflicts, we were unable to facilitate the second event. We encourage everyone to check out the other candidates: Caleb Max, John Beatty, Dave Beckwith, Theresa Coates Ellis, Brooke Taylor and Jeff Mayhugh,” said Paul Chen, Chief Operating Officer of Army of Parents and event organizer.
Many Americans believe their freedoms are being threatened and don’t agree with government overreach and identity politics. George Taplin, Secretary of Army of Parents and another event organizer said, “The fact that our first event sold out so quickly says a lot about how Americans from both sides of the aisle are feeling and how they are motivated to understand the issues, know the candidates and hold their elected officials accountable to representing their interests once they are in the seats.”
“We are really excited to bring this event to the voters of the 10th District who helped us to sell out this event within days. We will be announcing additional events that will keep citizens engaged, aware and educated to the matters important to Americans,” said Karlee Copeland, Army of Parents Treasurer and event organizer. “It is encouraging to see people taking action and fighting to preserve their constitutional rights,” Copeland said.
